| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Chester C. VanDeVelde of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on September 24, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Chester VanDeVelde was born in Sheffield to | 6 | | Charles and Emily (VanDeHandy) VanDeVelde on April 21, 1918; he | 7 | | served in the United States Army 36th Infantry Division during | 8 | | World War II and received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and the | 9 | | Soldier's Medal; he married Juliette E. VanKerrebroeck in 1947; | 10 | | and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Chester VanDeVelde worked as a precision grinder | 12 | | at the Rock Island Arsenal for 30 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Chester VanDeVelde was a member of Sacred Heart | 14 | | Church, the Ex-Servicemen's Club, the Center for Belgian | 15 | | Culture, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Friends | 16 | | Circle Club in Moline; he enjoyed needle pointing, carpentry, | 17 | | playing cards, the Chicago Cubs, and winning at rolle bolle; | 18 | | and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Chester VanDeVelde was preceded in death by his | 20 | | parents and his wife of 66 years, Juliette; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Chester VanDeVelde is survived by his daughter, | 2 | | Patricia Tjelmeland; his son, Thomas VanDeVelde; his five | 3 | | grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister, | 4 | | Margie VanKerrebroeck; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Chester C. VanDeVelde and extend our sincere condolences to his | 8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
