SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert H. "Bob" Cook of Moline, who passed away on August 11, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Bob Cook graduated from Rock Island High School in 1953; he served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958 and graduated from Augustana College in 1962; he married Betty Joan Carpenter on September 12, 1965; and

WHEREAS, Bob Cook was a civilian employee for the U.S. Army for over 30 years, serving as chief of the Abrams Tank Branch of the Material Management Directorate at the Rock Island Arsenal; and

WHEREAS, Bob Cook was an accomplished musician, playing both cornet and trombone; his lifelong passion was Dixieland Jazz music; he performed in many bands and numerous venues throughout Illinois, starting with the original Rocky High Corn Band in 1952; he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Bob Cook was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Celia Thonn Cook; his wife of 35 years, Betty; his stepson, Michael Sweers; and his sister, Janet L. Day; and

WHEREAS, Bob Cook is survived by his daughter, Jane (Chuck) Winston; his stepdaughters, Pamela (Jim) Peckenschneider and Deborah (Don) Hazen; his grandchildren, Michael Hazen, James Hazen, Brett Banfield, Chad Banfield, and Barbara Gregerson; and several great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert H. "Bob" Cook, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob Cook as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
