| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Genaro "Jerry" Morales Sr. of Joliet, who | 4 | | passed away on August 1, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Genaro Morales was born in Corpus Christi, Texas | 6 | | to Felipe Morales Sr. and Viviana Guerrero on October 5, 1942; | 7 | | he served in the U.S. Air Force; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Genaro Morales was employed by the Gulf, Mobile, | 9 | | Ohio, Illinois Central Gulf, and Metra railroads; he retired | 10 | | from the railroad industry after 33 years of service; he served | 11 | | as chairman of Local 6324 and vice-president/treasurer of the | 12 | | Transportation Communication Union; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Genaro Morales was one of the founders of the MAC | 14 | | baseball program, now known as the Spanish Community Center | 15 | | baseball/softball program; he enjoyed coaching baseball for | 16 | | kids ages 5-13 and teaching them respect, discipline, and | 17 | | teamwork; he also enjoyed spending time with his family and | 18 | | attending to his rose garden; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Genaro Morales received the Reverend James E. | 20 | | Allen Award for Service to the Community and a Certificate of | 21 | | Recognition by the Spanish Community Center for his dedication |

| 1 | | to its baseball and softball organization; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Genaro Morales was preceded in death by his infant | 3 | | daughter, Maricela Morales; his parents; his infant sister, | 4 | | Martina Morales; his oldest sister, Rosa Nava; his youngest | 5 | | brother, Alejandro Morales; and his brother-in-law, Henry | 6 | | Cavazos; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Genaro Morales is survived by his wife of 50 | 8 | | years, Sandra (Acosta) Morales; his children, Yolanda (David) | 9 | | Sportiello, Alma (Kevin) Klein, and Genaro (Candice Stube) | 10 | | Morales Jr.; his grandchildren, Joshua, Gabriela, Marcelina, | 11 | | and Alec Sportiello, Jeremy and Raquel Klein, and Maricela, | 12 | | Ariana, and Genaro III Morales; his great-grandchild, Addalyn; | 13 | | his siblings, Pedro (Mary Lou) Morales, Felipe (Guadalupe) | 14 | | Morales Jr., Guadalupe Cavazos, and Ernestina Eplin; and | 15 | | several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 18 | | Genaro "Jerry" Morales Sr., and extend our sincere condolences | 19 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 20 | | it further
