| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Duaine D. Carlson of Milan, who passed | 4 | | away on January 17, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was born in Milan to John and | 6 | | Margaret Carothers Carlson on October 4, 1931; he served in the | 7 | | United States Army during the Korean War; he earned his | 8 | | associate's degree from Black Hawk College; he married Marie E. | 9 | | Rathbun at the Milan Presbyterian Church on May 22, 1955; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson worked as a reporter at the | 11 | | Argus-Dispatch, where he was the Mercer County Bureau Chief for | 12 | | many years; he also worked as a counselor at the East Moline | 13 | | Correctional Center and as a customer service dispatcher at | 14 | | Iowa/Illinois Gas and Electric; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was a former member of Taylor Ridge | 16 | | Methodist Church, where he served as the church organist for | 17 | | many years; currently, he was a member of the First | 18 | | Presbyterian Church, Milan and the Reynolds American Legion | 19 | | Post 1166; he was a humble man who greatly enjoyed reading | 20 | | history books and writing; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was preceded in death by his wife, |

| 1 | | Marie; his daughter, Kathy; his father, John Carlson; his | 2 | | stepfather, James Danielson; and his sister, Beverly (Russell) | 3 | | Allers; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson is survived by his son, David; his | 5 | | mother, Margaret Danielson, his brother, Gareld (Judy) | 6 | | Danielson; and his many nieces, nephews, and other loving | 7 | | family members and friends; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Duaine D. Carlson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Duaine D. Carlson as an expression | 15 | | of our deepest sympathy.
