SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Tommy Glisson of Carbondale, who passed away on January 8, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson was born in Carbondale to Tommy and Velma Nannie (Hartley) Halstead on June 19, 1934; he proudly served in the United States Army from October 5, 1953 until October 4, 1955; he marred Bonnie Kay Gwaltney on April 25, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson had a strong work ethic, and over his lifetime had 26 jobs, including one with the United States Postal Service; he also built and owned rental properties for over 54 years; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching Saluki and Grinnell College basketball and attending any activities in which his grandchildren were involved; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson was preceded in death by his parents; his uncles, Gene Mitcheff, Steve Menckowski, Walter (Ann) Glisson, John (Tillie) Glisson, Earl (Louise) Glisson, and Russell (Louise) Hartley; and his aunts, Hazel Glisson (Oscar) Landsford and Etta Glisson (Earl) Worley; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his daughters, Ellen "Roxanne" (Richard) Conley, Mary Jane (Glisson) Ekstrand (fiance Kenneth Keller), and Rebecca "Becky" Sue Glisson (Gregory George Borowitz Jr.); his grandchildren, Robin Ann (Skip) Cutting, Brett Daniel (Rachel) Conley, Curtis Matthew Conley, Derek Michael Conley, Aaron Jordan Ekstrand, Sarah Caroline Ekstrand, Caleb Thomas Ekstrand, Jacob Kennedy Ekstrand, Isaac Martin Ekstrand, Caleb Thomas Ekstrand, Hannah Olivia Borowitz, and Liesel Berget Borowitz; his great-grandchildren, Adrienne Claire Conley, Brandon Clark Conley, and Alexandria Allise Cutting; his aunts, Katherine (Glisson) Mitcheff and Fanny (Glisson) Menckowski; and his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Tommy Glisson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tommy Glisson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
