| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of George Randall Houska of Bloomington, who | 4 | | passed away on December 5, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, George Houska was born in Elgin to Frank and Helen | 6 | | J. Marcks Houska on November 7, 1931; he married Mary LaRue | 7 | | Weihmeir in Hopedale on September 10, 1955; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, George Houska proudly served his country in the | 9 | | United States Air Force, where he was a pilot and reached the | 10 | | rank of lieutenant; he was an ROTC graduate of Bradley | 11 | | University; he worked as the director of insurance at Illinois | 12 | | State University, as a salesman at Barker Motors, and in the | 13 | | personnel department at GTE; he retired in 1996; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, George Houska was a 60-year member of Wesley | 15 | | United Methodist Church; as an active member, he served as an | 16 | | usher, as the chairperson of education, as a Sunday school | 17 | | teacher, on the pastor parish committee, and as a Stephen | 18 | | minister; he also served his community as the Normal Township | 19 | | Clerk for 35 years; he was a past president of the Normal | 20 | | Rotary Club; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, George Houska was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | brother, Ronald; and his nephew, John; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, George Houska is survived by his wife, Mary; his | 3 | | sons, Dr. Mark (Dr. Holly) Houska and Paul (Mimi) Houska; and | 4 | | his grandsons, Nicholas, Mitch, Lucas, Kevin, and Eric; | 5 | | therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | George Randall Houska and extend our sincere condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of George Houska as an expression of | 13 | | our deepest sympathy.
