| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Dorothy Loy Lyon Pogue of Godfrey, who | 4 | | passed away on December 13, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Pogue was born in Carey, Ohio to John and | 6 | | Helen (Whitlock) Loy on December 1, 1925; she graduated from | 7 | | Findlay High School in Ohio and then Depauw University in | 8 | | Greencastle, Indiana in 1947; she studied psychology at Indiana | 9 | | University and married the Reverend Dr. Richard Lyon in 1948; | 10 | | and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Pogue earned her pilots license and was an | 12 | | accomplished organist; she loved classical music, playing | 13 | | bridge, and doing crossword puzzles; she cooked amazing chicken | 14 | | livers and onions; she was quick to correct the grammar and | 15 | | table manners of her children, and sometimes others; she spent | 16 | | her winters in Naples, Florida for 46 years; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Pogue was a member of the Junior League of | 18 | | Alton, Illinois State Chapter of P.E.O., and served as a deacon | 19 | | at First Presbyterian Church of Alton; she relished her many | 20 | | foreign adventures with Richard and friends; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Pogue married Joe H. Pogue in 2003 after |

| 1 | | the passing of her husband; they enjoyed traveling the world | 2 | | and having an active social life; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Pogue was preceded in death by her | 4 | | daughter, Mary Lyon, and her first husband, Richard Lyon; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Pogue is survived by her husband, Joe; her | 6 | | children, the Reverend Dr. Susan Lyon (Dr. Tom Hudson), Dr. | 7 | | John Lyon, and Sally Lyon (Chris Pfeiffer); and eight | 8 | | grandchildren, Thomas, David, and Stephen Hudson, Taylor, | 9 | | Rebecca, and Jessica Lyon, and Ellie and Ned Pfeiffer; | 10 | | therefore, be it
