| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Jean C. Lennon of Joliet, who passed away | 4 | | on November 19, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jean Lennon was born in Chicago to Arthur and | 6 | | Alice (Hilbert) Canty on March 20, 1928; she was raised on the | 7 | | south side of Chicago and loved spending her summers at Camp | 8 | | Lake, Wisconsin; she graduated from Little Flower Grade School | 9 | | and Mercy High School in Chicago; she earned her bachelor's | 10 | | degree as an Art and English major from the University of | 11 | | Illinois; she married Colonel Arthur T. Lennon in 1951 and they | 12 | | lived in Alabama and the Washington, D.C. area before moving to | 13 | | Joliet in 1953; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jean Lennon taught art and architecture at the | 15 | | Chicago Vocational School for a year; her true passion was | 16 | | teaching English as a Second Language, including vocational | 17 | | language, at Joliet Township High School for 10 years; she was | 18 | | proud to have taught and mentored many Indochinese and other | 19 | | refugees in the Joliet area; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jean Lennon was a member of St. Paul the Apostle | 21 | | Catholic Church, St. Paul the Apostle Women's Club, and the | 22 | | Visitation and Aid Society of Joliet, where she served as |

| 1 | | Welfare Chair; she was a former member of the Newcomers Club of | 2 | | Joliet and the Junior Women's Club; she served as an election | 3 | | judge for 35 years and was known for her election soup by her | 4 | | fellow election judges, candidates who stopped by, and those | 5 | | who voted in her garage polling place; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jean Lennon was preceded in death by her husband, | 7 | | Arthur; her beloved daughter, Elizabeth "Lisa" Lennon; her | 8 | | loving son, Arthur "Bud" C. Lennon; her great-granddaughter, | 9 | | Kathleen Rawlinson; her parents; and her sister, Alice | 10 | | O'Shaughnessy; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jean Lennon is survived by her daughter, the | 12 | | Honorable Dinah (John) Archambeault; her son, John H. Lennon; | 13 | | her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Lennon; her "daughter", Mary | 14 | | Kohler; her grandchildren, Elizabeth "Lisa" (Steven) Thomas, | 15 | | John "Johnny" L. Archambeault, Mary "Molly" (Adam) Rawlinson, | 16 | | Ashley (Mark) Conner, Michael Lennon, Caitlin Lennon, and | 17 | | Claire Lennon; her great-grandchildren, Emma and Michael | 18 | | Thomas and Christian, Justice, Liberty, and Valor Rawlinson; | 19 | | three nieces; one nephew; and numerous cousins; therefore, be | 20 | | it
