| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Joseph C. Burg of Woodstock, who passed | 4 | | away on November 6, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burg was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to | 6 | | Christopher and Anna (Ahlers) Burg on May 19, 1933 and was the | 7 | | youngest of eight children; the family moved to Woodstock in | 8 | | 1945; he attended St. Mary's School and graduated from high | 9 | | school in 1951; after graduation, he enlisted in the United | 10 | | States Air force, where he served for four years; he married | 11 | | Mary Ellen Evans at St. Mary's Church in Woodstock on September | 12 | | 7, 1953; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burg was a carpenter and worked for Freund | 14 | | Construction for 25 years; he retired from Peet Frate Line | 15 | | Inc.; he was also a 28-year member of the Woodstock Rural Fire | 16 | | Department, where he served as Chief; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burg was active at St. Mary's; he was | 18 | | President of the School Board, a member of the Parish Council, | 19 | | and a member of the Woodstock Council #776 Knights of Columbus, | 20 | | where he served as Grand Knight and longtime Financial | 21 | | Secretary; he was also a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of | 22 | | Columbus; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burg and his wife enjoyed spending time at | 2 | | their summer home in the Wisconsin Dells and vacationing with | 3 | | friends; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burg was preceded in death by his parents; his | 5 | | seven siblings, William (Grace) Burg, Al (Audrey) Burg, John | 6 | | (Dorothy) Burg, Helen (Ralph Kristensen), Dorothy (George) | 7 | | Kohl, Ervin (Phyllis) Burg, and Claire (Tennes) Gabrielson; and | 8 | | his brother-in-law, Robert Evans; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burg is survived by his loving wife of 64 | 10 | | years, Mary; his children, Mary Jo Burg, Marcia (Jeff) Porter, | 11 | | Gary (Wendy) Burg, Robert Burg, and Michelle (Curtis) Price; | 12 | | his grandchildren, Meagan (Andrew Ruehl) Porter, CJ Price, | 13 | | Abigail Burg, Alivia Price, Kylie Burg, Madelyn Price, and | 14 | | Jason Burg; his great-grandchildren, Caden and Cambrie Ruehl; | 15 | | his sister-in-law, Susan Evans; and his 38 nieces and nephews; | 16 | | therefore, be it
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 19 | | Joseph C. Burg and extend our sincere condolences to his | 20 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 21 | | further
