SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William H. Ray of McHenry, who passed away on November 4, 2017; and

WHEREAS, William Ray was born in Gleason Tennessee to William O. and Lela V. (Reid) Ray on January 27, 1925; he served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and married Doris Wheat in Chicago on December 19, 1953; and

WHEREAS, William Ray retired from the Continental Can Company after 33 years; and

WHEREAS, William Ray was a member of First Baptist Church in McHenry; he enjoyed volunteering at Fox Point and taking part in their daily activities; he was also an avid Bingo player; and

WHEREAS, William Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Doris, and seven brothers and sisters; and

WHEREAS, William Ray is survived by his children, Sandra (Norm) Lewis and Linda (Steve) Mayer; his grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie) Lewis, Keri Benton, Katherine (Matthew) Simkulet, Matthew (Julie) Mayer, and Jeff Mayer; his great-grandchildren, Adam, Anna, Zachary, Eleanor, Charlotte, Jacob, Thaddeus, Violet, Isaac, Greyson, Amelia, Winston, and Benjamin; and his brother and sisters, Jerry Ray, Ruby Nell Hall, and Sarah Marcukaitis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William H. Ray, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Ray as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
