SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bernadette Ann Parker, who passed away on July 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Bernadette Parker was born in Chicago on January 21, 1939 and spent her life in Chicago, Barrington, and Palatine; and

WHEREAS, Bernadette Parker was a registered nurse and spent years working in home healthcare, visiting, caring for, and cajoling people into wellness; and

WHEREAS, Bernadette Parker was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Willow Creek Care Center; and

WHEREAS, Bernadette Parker was affectionately known by her family as "Gigi"; she loved playing Scrabble with her grandchildren, doing word searches, watching movies, and cooking for her family and friends; her specialties were pierogi, gobki, and kolaczki, of which she made thousands for her children and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Bernadette Parker is survived by her siblings, Marcia Burke and Jim Syke; her children, Cathy Tompkins and Jim Parker; her son-in-law, Scott Tompkins; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Daniel, Cristina, and Julia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and neighbors; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Bernadette Parker, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bernadette Parker as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
