| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John Darrah, who passed away on March 23, | 4 | | 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Darrah was born in Chicago to Paul and Adele | 6 | | Darrah on December 11, 1938; he graduated from Mt. Carmel High | 7 | | School and Loyola University with a degree in philosophy; he | 8 | | attended night school while working at the Chicago pipe yard | 9 | | and graduated from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law | 10 | | in 1969; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, John Darrah served as an attorney for the Federal | 12 | | Trade Commission from 1969 to 1971; from 1971 until 1973, he | 13 | | was a Deputy Public Defender for the DuPage County Public | 14 | | Defender Office; he was a DuPage County Assistant State's | 15 | | Attorney from 1973 until 1976; he then went into private | 16 | | practice at Ryan & Darrah; in 1986, he was elected to serve in | 17 | | the State Court and was assigned to the Chancery Division of | 18 | | the 18th Judicial Circuit of DuPage County; he served in this | 19 | | capacity until 2000, when he was appointed to the United States | 20 | | Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois by | 21 | | President Bill Clinton; in addition to his time on the bench, | 22 | | he served as an adjunct professor at Northern Illinois | 23 | | University College of Law and The John Marshall Law School; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, John Darrah was an avid fan of the Chicago White | 2 | | Sox and loved fishing; he also enjoyed spending time with his | 3 | | family and friends; he remained active in the legal community, | 4 | | mentoring countless attorneys throughout their careers; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Darrah was preceded in death by his parents; | 6 | | his son-in-law, Jay Leinfelder; his brothers-in-law, Jim | 7 | | Boyer, John Carroll, and Rich Myers; and his nephew, David | 8 | | Myers; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, John Darrah was the beloved husband of Jeannine | 10 | | Darrah; the cherished father of Jacqueline "Jackie" Darrah | 11 | | (Steve Knapmiller), Nancy Leinfelder, Paul (Dina Aralles) | 12 | | Darrah, Craig (Andrea Stetz) Darrah, and Julie (Brad) Peterson; | 13 | | the father of stepchildren, Lauren (Daniel) Vogley, Justin | 14 | | (Whitney) Custardo, Emily (Dorian) Jarrette, Hillary | 15 | | (Christian) Nunez, and Matthew Custardo; the grandfather of 19; | 16 | | the great-grandfather of three; the brother of Joan Myers, Jim | 17 | | (Maribeth) Darrah, Joyce Boyer, Sue Carroll, and Sharon (Mike) | 18 | | Coogan; the fond brother-in-law of Yvette and Chuck Koubek, | 19 | | Denise and Rick White, Bill and Kathleen Burton, Jamie and Mike | 20 | | Molitor, and Bob and Angie Burton; and the son-in-law of | 21 | | William and Veronica Burton; therefore, be it
