AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 560

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 560 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by changing Section 17-11.2 as follows:

(720 ILCS 5/17-11.2)

Sec. 17-11.2. Airbag fraud Installation of object in lieu of air bag. A person commits installation of object in lieu of airbag fraud when he or she, for consideration, knowingly imports, manufacturers, sells, offers for sale, or installs or reinstalls in a vehicle, any object intended to replace an original airbag installed by a vehicle manufacturer and the object in lieu of an air bag that was not designed in accordance with federal safety regulations for the make, model, and year of the vehicle as part of a vehicle inflatable restraint system. A violation of this Section is a Class 4 felony A misdemeanor.
