HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Margaret Dunson, who passed away on November 7, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on July 8, 1933; she migrated to Chicago in 1946 and was a resident of the Near West Side; she joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church and graduated from Manley High School in 1951; she married Isaac Dunson in 1951; they moved to Lawndale, and she joined Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company; she also worked as the parish secretary at Our Lady of Perpetual Help; later, after earning a certificate in early childhood education from the City Colleges of Chicago, she was instrumental in establishing a day care center that provided pre-education care for children in her parish; in 1978, she relocated to the North Austin community and became active at St. Peter Canisius, where she worshiped until it closed in 2012; she also served the North Austin community through an organization based out of St. Peter's; she retired from public service in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson was a member of the 1500 North Lotus Block Club; during retirement, she enjoyed her favorite hobbies, cooking and gardening, and spending time with her friends; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac; and her son, Morris; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson is survived by her sons, Ronnie Sr. and Frederick; her five grandsons; and her six great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Margaret Dunson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Margaret Dunson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
