HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Belvidere Police Chief
4Jan Noble on the occasion of his retirement on February 28,
52018 after 44 years in law enforcement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Noble is the longest-serving police chief in
7the state with 38 years of continuous service between Cherry
8Valley and Belvidere; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Chief Noble began his career in law enforcement in
101974 with the Boone County Sheriff's Department and Poplar
11Grove Police Department; he joined the Cherry Valley Police
12Department in 1976, where he later became chief until he
13relocated to Belvidere in 1995; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Chief Noble was instrumental in establishing the
15first drug unit in Belvidere and combining the city's drug
16enforcement efforts with Boone County; he worked tirelessly to
17reduce crime rates and gang problems; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Chief Noble has represented the 1,200 police
19chiefs in the State of Illinois on the Illinois Law Enforcement
20Training and Standards Board since 2014; he served as an
21executive board member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of

1Police; he served as president of the Northwest Chiefs of
2Police Association in 1994; he is a life member of the
3International Association of Chiefs of Police; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Chief Noble was a founding board member of the
5State Line Area Narcotics Task Force; he served as co-chairman
6of the Illinois Terrorism Task Force Communication Committee
7since 2006; he served as co-chairman of the Winnebago/Boone
8County Integrity Task Force; he served as an advisory board
9member of the Chrysler Police Fleet from 2013 to 2016; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Chief Noble served as chairman of Illinois TRIAD,
11where he brought together committed police officers, legal
12representatives, elderly rights advocates, and senior citizens
13for crime prevention and education throughout Illinois; he has
14served as the chairman of Illinois Radio Emergency Assistance
15Channel; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Chief Noble has been recognized by his colleagues
17and community as a role model both on the force and in the
18community for his personable and approachable manner;
19therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
21HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we,
22along with his family, friends, and co-workers, congratulate

1Chief Jan Noble on the occasion of his retirement, and thank
2him for his years of dedicated public service to the Belvidere
3and Cherry Valley communities and the State of Illinois; and be
