| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the 50th anniversary of the | 4 | | founding of the Chicago South Suburban Mass Transit District; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Chicago South Suburban Mass Transit District | 7 | | was organized and incorporated on
October 13, 1967 as a local | 8 | | mass transit district to serve the transportation needs of
| 9 | | local communities; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Initially, there were 11
participating | 11 | | municipalities: Homewood,
Harvey,
Olympia Fields,
Flossmoor,
| 12 | | Dixmoor,
Park Forest,
Matteson,
East Hazel Crest,
Richton Park,
| 13 | | Riverdale, and
Hazel Crest; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 1971, the Chicago South Suburban Mass Transit | 15 | | District puts its first Highliner cars into service; the last | 16 | | run of the original Highliners took place on February
12, 2016; | 17 | | and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, the Chicago South Suburban Mass | 19 | | Transit District has grown to accommodate the ever-increasing | 20 | | transportation needs of the area by expanding its rail lines | 21 | | and operating commuter parking lots; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Currently, the Chicago South Suburban Mass | 2 | | Transit District is comprised of 14 participating | 3 | | municipalities with the addition of
Blue Island, Calumet Park, | 4 | | and University Park; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 6 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 7 | | recognize the 50th anniversary of the Chicago South Suburban | 8 | | Mass Transit District, and we wish them many more years of | 9 | | success; and be it further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the Chicago South Suburban Mass Transit District | 12 | | as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
