HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Merilyn "Mimi" Ann Bever Browning, who passed away on March 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Mimi Browning was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Wayne and Velma (Myers) Bever on December 11, 1937; she was raised in Champaign and baptized on April 9, 1944 at First Presbyterian Church; she graduated from Champaign High School and the University of Illinois in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics in the College of Agriculture, where she pledged the Pi Beta Phi sorority; she married Walter "Bud" Browning on June 20, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Mimi Browning and her husband lived in Schenectady, New York and Cleveland, Ohio before returning to Illinois; she was active in her children's schools, where she was a room mother, baseball team mom, and an advocate for the arts; and

WHEREAS, Mimi Browning worked at a sewing store, and in 1983, started a 33-year career as a travel agent in Chicago; she enjoyed traveling herself and visited France, Spain, England, Germany, Turkey, Thailand, and China; with the exception of Maine, she traveled to every state in the country; and

WHEREAS, Mimi Browning enjoyed Christmas, cooking, reading, photography, scrapbooking, and entertaining; she joined the Presbyterian Church on April 28, 2002 and was ordained in 2014; she served on the Board of Deacons for three years; and

WHEREAS, Mimi Browning is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bud; her daughter, Amy (Tom) Novicki; her son, Tom (Jill) Browning; and her grandchildren, Tommy and Anna Novicki, and Susannah, Eric, and Will Browning; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Merilyn "Mimi" Ann Bever Browning, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mimi Browning as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
