| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the 50th anniversary of |
| 4 | | Hillcrest High School; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Hillcrest High School opened its doors on
February |
| 6 | | 6, 1967 under the direction of Principal William Reeves; it had |
| 7 | | a student enrollment of 693 freshmen and sophomores, and 37 |
| 8 | | staff members; the
Class of 1969 was the first graduating class |
| 9 | | with 200 students; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, As of 2017, Hillcrest High School has a student |
| 11 | | enrollment of 1,192 and 140 teachers and support
staff; the |
| 12 | | Class of 2017 will have approximately 250 graduating students; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Hillcrest High School has hosted visits by |
| 15 | | President Bill Clinton, and then-Senator Barack Obama; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Notable Hillcrest High School students include |
| 17 | | NFL players, Danny Clark and Marquice Cole; former President of |
| 18 | | the World Bank, Brady Dougan; Fox 32 anchor, Cory McPherrin; |
| 19 | | Hollywood stunt man, Leonard Richard; New York Yankees draftee, |
| 20 | | Jason Robertson; Women's Professional Beach Volleyball player, |
| 21 | | Dennie Shupryt-Knoop; and attorney, Baku Talbert; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Many Hillcrest High School students have returned |
| 2 | | to work for Bremen District 228 schools, including Jamilah |
| 3 | | Adebesen Mason (2003), Kimiko Chambers Broome (1993), Deshawn |
| 4 | | Dockery (2008), Justin Edgecombe (1993), Cynthia Goodwin |
| 5 | | (2004), Tamara Hill Pryer (1992), Stacy Lavin Faulkner (1986), |
| 6 | | Nikita Odom (2004), Herb Offord (2010),
Camille Scott-Offord |
| 7 | | (2010), Janet Stachyra McGrath (1975),
Melinda Taylor (2003), |
| 8 | | Morgan Weaver (2010), Lisa Wunar (1985), and Michael Young |

| 10 | | WHEREAS, Current Principal Dr. Renee Simms and the rest of |
| 11 | | the Hillcrest High School community will celebrate the school's |
| 12 | | anniversary on February 25, 2017 at a 50th anniversary gala at |
| 13 | | the school; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 15 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 16 | | recognize the 50th anniversary of Hillcrest High School, and we |
| 17 | | wish them many more successful years; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to Principal Renee Simms as an expression of our |
| 20 | | esteem and respect.
