AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4243

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4243 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The General Assembly Compensation Act is amended by adding Section 5 as follows:

(25 ILCS 115/5 new)

Sec. 5. Prohibition on sexual harassment payoffs. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no public funds, including, but not limited to, funds appropriated for office allowances under Section 4, shall be paid to any person in exchange for his or her silence or inaction related to an allegation or investigation of sexual harassment, as defined in Section 5-65 of the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act, committed or allegedly committed by a member of the General Assembly.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.".
