| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Theresa Maria Marks "Teet" Lee, who | 4 | | passed away on January 5, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Theresa Lee was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to | 6 | | Lottie Jefferson Marks and Jason B. Marks, Sr. on November 17, | 7 | | 1941; she was baptized at an early age and stayed dedicated | 8 | | between her 2 home churches - Wesley Ray United
Methodist | 9 | | Church in Angie, Louisiana and Olivet United Methodist Church | 10 | | in Chicago; she became "Mrs. Lee" on July 6, 1978 and was | 11 | | married for over 40 years; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Theresa Lee served in many areas of her church, | 13 | | including Pastor Parish, the food pantry, and the soup kitchen
| 14 | | for the homeless; she attended several Northern Conferences in | 15 | | DeKalb and other areas as a faithful secretary
and also a Girl | 16 | | Scout Leader; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Theresa Lee enjoyed fishing, crabbing, cooking, | 18 | | and traveling between Angie, Louisiana and Chicago with her | 19 | | children,
foster children, and grandchildren; everybody knew | 20 | | her grandsons as the "chicken boys", from "Hot Garm Boogie
| 21 | | Baby" (Quovadis) to "Lil' Kivo" (Kenyen); she won Foster Parent | 22 | | of the Year certificates for fostering children that were wards |

| 1 | | of the State, ranging from newborn to 10-years-old; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Theresa Lee was preceded in death by her son, | 3 | | Kiven Marks; her mother, Lottie Jefferson Marks; her father,
| 4 | | Jason B. Marks, Sr.; her sisters, Effie Marks, Evelyn Marks | 5 | | Williams, and Bennie Marks Lewis; her stepson, Lewis Lee, Jr.;
| 6 | | and her great-grandson, Kiven Martin, Jr.; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Theresa Lee is survived by her daughters, Cynthia | 8 | | (Donna) Bickham, Alicia (Terrell) Evans, Tiffany Lee, and Ada | 9 | | Lee; her son, Shawn Lee; her son through marriage, Dennis | 10 | | (Elaine) Lee; her 3 grandsons, U.S.A.F. (non-active) Quovadis | 11 | | (Kayla) Bickham, U.S.M.C.
