| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Kathy A. Pelz of Spring Grove, who passed | 4 | | away on April 25, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Pelz was born in Chicago on September 18, | 6 | | 1956 to Roland and Anna (nee Niesner) Schneider and grew up in | 7 | | Barrington; she married Richard E. Pelz on June 28, 1975 in | 8 | | Barrington and they built their first home in Marengo; she | 9 | | received her post high school education at McHenry County | 10 | | College and Harper College; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, After 5 years, Kathy Pelz and her husband | 12 | | relocated back to Barrington, where they managed a farm | 13 | | operation until 1987; Cary then became their home for over 10 | 14 | | years before moving to Spring Grove 12 years ago; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Pelz was a banking executive for her entire | 16 | | career; she was employed for the past 25 years at McHenry | 17 | | Savings Bank, where she served as Sr. Vice-President and Chief | 18 | | Retail Banking Officer; previously, she was operations | 19 | | supervisor with Northern Federal Savings in Crystal Lake for 5 | 20 | | years; she began her banking career at Arlington Federal in | 21 | | Arlington Heights; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Kathy Pelz was very active | 2 | | in community and charitable organizations; she was the former | 3 | | Chairman (1997-1998) and board member (1995-2003) with the | 4 | | McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce; while a board member, she | 5 | | also served as Chairman of the McHenry Fiesta Days, the Fiesta | 6 | | Days Parade, and was active with numerous McHenry Area Chamber | 7 | | of Commerce committees and events; she was recognized for her | 8 | | community work as the recipient of the 2005 McHenry Area | 9 | | Chamber Frank E. Low Award; she was also a board member and | 10 | | board Chairman of the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and | 11 | | was recognized for her contributions as the recipient of the | 12 | | Big Brothers and Big Sisters Impact Award in 2006; she was a | 13 | | member and past-President of the McHenry Rotary Club and was | 14 | | the recipient of the Rotary Club Presidents Award for | 15 | | 2012-2013; she served on several Rotary Committees and was | 16 | | Chairman and co-founder of the Rotary Blues Brews and Barbecues | 17 | | event; other civic contributions included serving as a board | 18 | | member of the McHenry County Workforce Investment Board and as | 19 | | a board member on the McHenry County Community Foundation; | 20 | | other board positions she held included Senior Services, Family | 21 | | Services, and Adult and Child Rehab; she served as the keynote | 22 | | speaker for the American Cancer Society in 2010, and for | 23 | | several years, she served on the United Way Allocation Panel; | 24 | | and | 25 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Pelz loved the companionship of her dog and |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Pelz was preceded in death by her father; | 3 | | and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Pelz is survived by her husband of nearly 40 | 5 | | years, Richard; her 2 children, Katherine May and Michael | 6 | | (Carley) Pelz; her 6 grandchildren, William, Scarlett, | 7 | | Nathaniel, Ashton, Brianna, and Claire; her mother, Anna | 8 | | Schneider; her brother, Roland (Alison) Schneider; and her 4 | 9 | | sisters, Rita (Richard) Smith, Vickie (Michael) Karcz, Loretta | 10 | | (Dave) Parker, and Shirley (Bruce) Kraft; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Kathy A. Pelz, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 14 | | family, friends, and who knew and loved her; and be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Kathy Pelz as an expression of our | 17 | | deepest sympathy.
