SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Elizabeth Flynn of Belleville, who
4passed away on April 19, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Flynn was born in East St. Louis on April 29,
61916 to Christina Marie and Joseph Michael Haider; she
7graduated from 8th grade at St. Henry's School in East St.
8Louis and then attended St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis
9for 2 years, before attending St. Elizabeth Academy in St.
10Louis, Missouri, graduating in 1934; she graduated in 1938 from
11Fontbonne College in St. Louis with a bachelor's degree in home
12economics and dietetics; she married Harry David Lynn on
13November 25, 1943 at St. Joseph's Rectory in Rock Island; and
 
14    WHEREAS, After graduation, Mary Flynn worked at
15Jacksonville State Hospital as a dietitian, staying until 1942;
16she then began working at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St.
17Louis, staying until 1943 when she began working for the St.
18Joseph's Parish Rationing Board; she eventually began working
19as a substitute teacher at Holy Angels School and St. Patrick's
20School in East St. Louis; she then went to work at Wurth Dairy,
21retiring in 1977; later in 1977, she went to work in the
22mailroom at Our Lady of Snows Shrine, retiring in 1997 after 20
23years of service; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Flynn was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace
2Sodality, the Mothers' Club, and the Queen of Peace Funeral
3Luncheon Group; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mary Flynn was preceded in death by her husband,
5Harry; her daughter, Mary Jo Flynn; her parents; and her
6siblings, Carl Haider, Genevieve Haider McGovern, Austin
7Haider, and Helen Haider Breslin; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Flynn is survived by her children, Patrick
9Michael (Thiem) Flynn, Barbara Hauck, Jerry (Luana) Flynn, Bob
10Flynn, Kathy (Walter) Neff, and Pat (Kevin) Fitzgerald; her
11grandchildren, Stephen Romanik, Kelly (Mike) Becker, Jeremy
12Flynn, Sean (Julie) Flynn, Julie (Jason) Reichert, Erin Flynn,
13Amanda (Chris) Campbell, Chris (Meredith) Flynn, Kevin (Jamie)
14Flynn, Mike Fitzgerald, Colleen Fitzgerald, and Brian Flynn;
15and her 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Mary Elizabeth Flynn, and extend our sincere condolences to her
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
