3 | | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | | "Section 5. The Podiatric Medical Practice Act of 1987 is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 5 as follows:

7 | | (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)

8 | | Sec. 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
|
9 | | (A) "Department" means the Department of Financial and
|
10 | | Professional Regulation.
|
11 | | (B) "Secretary" means the Secretary of Financial and |
12 | | Professional Regulation.
|
13 | | (C) "Board" means the Podiatric Medical Licensing Board |
14 | | appointed
by
the Secretary.
|
15 | | (D) "Podiatric medicine" or "podiatry" means the
|
16 | | diagnosis, medical,
physical, or surgical treatment of the |

1 | | ailments of the human foot, including amputations as defined in |
2 | | this Section ; provided that amputations of the human foot are |
3 | | limited to 10 centimeters proximal to the tibial talar |
4 | | articulation . "Podiatric medicine" or "podiatry" includes the |
5 | | provision of topical and local anesthesia and moderate and deep |
6 | | sedation, as defined by Department rule adopted under the |
7 | | Medical Practice Act of 1987. For the purposes of this Act, the |
8 | | terms podiatric medicine,
podiatry and chiropody have the same |
9 | | definition.

10 | | (E) "Human foot" means the ankle and soft tissue which |
11 | | insert
into the
foot as well as the foot.
|
12 | | (F) "Podiatric physician" means a physician licensed to |
13 | | practice
podiatric medicine.
|
14 | | (G) "Postgraduate training" means a minimum one year |
15 | | postdoctoral
structured and supervised educational experience |
16 | | approved by the Council on
Podiatric Medical Education of the |
17 | | American Podiatric Medical Association
which includes |
18 | | residencies and preceptorships.
|
19 | | (H) "Amputations" means amputations of the human foot, in |
20 | | whole or in part, that are limited to 10 centimeters proximal |
21 | | to the tibial talar articulation. |
