AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5910

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5910 on page 1,
3immediately below line 3, by inserting the following:
 
4    "Section 1. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7    Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 19 20 members
9selected as follows: The Attorney General of the State of
10Illinois, the Director of State Police, the Director of
11Corrections, the Superintendent of the Chicago Police
12Department, the Sheriff of Cook County, the Director of the
13Illinois Police Training Institute, the Special Agent in Charge
14of the Springfield, Illinois, division of the Federal Bureau of
15Investigation, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County,
16and the following to be appointed by the Governor: 2 mayors or

1village presidents of Illinois municipalities, 2 Illinois
2county sheriffs from counties other than Cook County, 2
3managers of Illinois municipalities, 2 chiefs of municipal
4police departments in Illinois having no Superintendent of the
5Police Department on the Board, 2 citizens of Illinois who
6shall be members of an organized enforcement officers'
7association, one active member of a statewide association
8representing sheriffs, and one active member of a statewide
9association representing municipal police chiefs. The
10appointments of the Governor shall be made on the first Monday
11of August in 1965 with 3 of the appointments to be for a period
12of one year, 3 for 2 years, and 3 for 3 years. Their successors
13shall be appointed in like manner for terms to expire the first
14Monday of August each 3 years thereafter. All members shall
15serve until their respective successors are appointed and
16qualify. Vacancies shall be filled by the Governor for the
17unexpired terms.

20following:
 
21    "Section 99. Effective date. This Section and Section 1
22take effect upon becoming law.".
