1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The College and Career Success for All Students
5Act is amended by adding Section 30 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 302/30 new)
7    Sec. 30. Examination; postsecondary level course credit.
8    (a) In this Section, "institution of higher education"
9means a public university or public community college located
10in this State.
11    (b) The Illinois Articulation Initiative, through its
12Major panels and General Education panels, shall review each of
13the College Board Advanced Placement examinations and assign
14codes for transfer. All courses, Advanced Placement or
15otherwise, assigned codes for transfer through the Illinois
16Articulation Initiative must be guaranteed transfer credit as
17an individual course and not be required to be part of a
18package of courses. The review must be completed within 6
19months after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the
2099th General Assembly. Any review thereafter for any new or
21substantially revised examinations must be completed within 6
22months after being released by the College Board.
23    (c) Institutions of higher education that offer a

1corresponding course for a particular Advanced Placement
2examination are required to accept a student's score of 3 or
3higher on the Advanced Placement examination for postsecondary
4level course credit as a part of their general education degree
5requirements, if applicable, or for an elective credit if not.
6If an institution of higher education does not offer a
7corresponding course for a particular Advanced Placement
8examination, then the institution shall award, at a minimum,
9elective postsecondary level course credit toward general
10education degree requirements for those students who receive a
11score of 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement examination.
 
12    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13becoming law.
