AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2245

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2245, AS AMENDED,
3by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
 
5    "Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
6adding Section 85 as follows:
 
7    (110 ILCS 305/85 new)
8    Sec. 85. Priority enrollment; service member or veteran.
9    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
10    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
11member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
12reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
13District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
14United States and who is eligible to receive military
15educational benefits.
16    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service

1member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
2discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.
3    (b) The Board of Trustees shall give the earliest possible
4enrollment opportunity that the University offers to a service
5member or veteran.
6    (c) The priority enrollment provided pursuant to this
7Section shall apply to enrollment for all degree and
8certificate programs offered by the University after the
9student's eligibility to receive benefits has been verified by
10the University.
 
11    Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
12Act is amended by adding Section 70 as follows:
 
13    (110 ILCS 520/70 new)
14    Sec. 70. Priority enrollment; service member or veteran.
15    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
16    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
17member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
18reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
19District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
20United States and who is eligible to receive military
21educational benefits.
22    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
23member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
24discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.

1    (b) The Board shall give the earliest possible enrollment
2opportunity that the University offers to a service member or
3veteran.
4    (c) The priority enrollment provided pursuant to this
5Section shall apply to enrollment for all degree and
6certificate programs offered by the University after the
7student's eligibility to receive benefits has been verified by
8the University.
 
9    Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended by
10adding Section 5-180 as follows:
 
11    (110 ILCS 660/5-180 new)
12    Sec. 5-180. Priority, enrollment; service member or
13veteran.
14    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
15    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
16member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
17reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
18District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
19United States and who is eligible to receive military
20educational benefits.
21    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
22member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
23discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.

15member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
16reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
17District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
18United States and who is eligible to receive military
19educational benefits.
20    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
21member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
22discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.
23    (b) The Board shall give the earliest possible enrollment

14member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
15reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
16District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
17United States and who is eligible to receive military
18educational benefits.
19    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
20member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
21discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.

13member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
14reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
15District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
16United States and who is eligible to receive military
17educational benefits.
18    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
19member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
20discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.

10    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
11member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
12reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
13District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
14United States and who is eligible to receive military
15educational benefits.
16    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
17member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
18discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.
19    (b) The Board shall give the earliest possible enrollment
20opportunity that the University offers to a service member or
21veteran.

4by adding Section 35-185 as follows:
 
5    (110 ILCS 690/35-185 new)
6    Sec. 35-185. Priority enrollment; service member or
7veteran.
8    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
9    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
10member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
11reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
12District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
13United States and who is eligible to receive military
14educational benefits.
15    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
16member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
17discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.
18    (b) The Board shall give the earliest possible enrollment
19opportunity that the University offers to a service member or
20veteran.

2    Section 50. The Public Community College Act is amended by
3adding Section 3-29.10 as follows:
 
4    (110 ILCS 805/3-29.10 new)
5    Sec. 3-29.10. Priority enrollment; service member or
6veteran.
7    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
8    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
9member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
10reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
11District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
12United States and who is eligible to receive military
13educational benefits.
14    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
15member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
16discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.
17    (b) A board shall give the earliest possible enrollment
18opportunity that a community college offers to a service member
19or veteran.
20    (c) The priority enrollment provided pursuant to this
21Section shall apply to enrollment for all degree and
22certificate programs offered by a community college after the
23student's eligibility to receive benefits has been verified by
24the community college.".
