HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor and congratulate La Voz
4Latina for their hard work and commitment towards the progress
5of all Hispanics in the Rockford community; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Since 1971, La Voz Latina has played an integral
7role in helping Hispanic families new to the community by
8providing advice, helping with resettlement, and helping them
9to attain English language skills while maintaining and
10acknowledging the individual's diversity in countries of
11origin, ethnicity, cultural preferences, and beliefs; and
 
12    WHEREAS, La Voz Latina has made great strides over the
13years, expanding their range of services to include
14scholarships, vocational training, education, and specialized
15services for seniors, teen parents, immigrants and refugees,
16families, and the disabled, in addition to offering bilingual
17referrals to existing social services; and
 
18    WHEREAS, La Voz Latina's success can be measured on
19multiple levels, most notably the fact they serve over 6,796
20people each year; and
 
21    WHEREAS, La Voz Latina's mission can be summed up in a few

1words, "education is the answer"; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The organization continues to maintain a strong
3focus on education through English and GED classes, programming
4for youth, health and family education, and community
5awareness; and
 
6    WHEREAS, La Voz Latina's dedication to helping thousands of
7local Hispanics increase their skills, prepare for a better
8job, and lead healthier lives has earned them several awards
9for excellence in programming and community service;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we congratulate and honor the members of La Voz Latina on the
14occasion of the organization's 42nd anniversary and wish them
15continued success in providing integral services throughout
16their Hispanic community; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
18presented to the Board of Directors of La Voz Latina as a
19symbol of our respect and esteem.
