SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 375/5.5 new

Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971. Extends the open enrollment deadline to February 28, 2014 for all persons eligible to receive Medicare benefits under a State-sponsored Medicare Advantage Plan for the 2014 calendar year. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 is amended by adding Section 5.5 as follows:

(5 ILCS 375/5.5 new)

Sec. 5.5. Medicare Advantage Plan; 2013 open enrollment deadline date. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, for all persons eligible to receive Medicare benefits under a State-sponsored Medicare Advantage Plan for the 2014 calendar year, the open enrollment deadline date is February 28, 2014.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
