AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 11

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 11, AS AMENDED, with reference to page and line numbers of House Amendment No. 2, as follows:

on page 2, by replacing line 10 through 22 with the following:

"Sec. 26.5. Unemployed persons. If a person can furnish evidence that they are receiving unemployment benefits, then a pharmacy or pharmacist that is receiving federal or State funds must (i) dispense a prescription to that person one time even if that person is unable to pay for the prescription at that time and (ii) provide that individual with information on prescription assistance programs, such as Rx for Illinois. This shall be a one-time credit that the individual shall be required to pay back on an interest-free payment plan once the individual obtains assistance from a prescription assistance program.

The pharmacy or pharmacist also shall provide the individual with information on prescription assistance programs and direct the individual to the Department of Employment Security website to view available assistance programs."; and

on page 33, immediately below line 16, by inserting the following:

"Section 25. The Unemployment Insurance Act is amended by adding Section 700.5 as follows:

(820 ILCS 405/700.5 new)

Sec. 700.5. Financial assistance programs. The Department of Employment Security shall provide information about prescription assistance programs, utility residential hardship programs, and other financial assistance programs provided by the Department of Human Services to individuals when the individual is signing up to receive unemployment benefits. The Department shall also make this information available on its website.".
