| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3336, AS AMENDED, | 3 | | by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the | 4 | | following:

The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by | 6 | | changing Sections 1-158 and 11-1007 and by adding Section | 7 | | 1-131.5 as follows: | 8 | | (625 ILCS 5/1-131.5 new) | 9 | | Sec. 1-131.5. In-line speed skates. A manufactured or | 10 | | assembled device consisting of an upper portion that is | 11 | | intended to be secured to a human foot, with a frame or chassis | 12 | | attached along the length of the bottom of the upper portion, | 13 | | with the frame or chassis holding 2 or more wheels that are | 14 | | longitudinally aligned and used to skate or glide by means of | 15 | | human foot and leg power while having the device attached to | 16 | | each foot or leg. The upper portion may not extend more than 2 |

along and upon an adjacent roadway.
| 12 | | (b) Except as provided in subsection (e), where Where a | 13 | | sidewalk is not available, any pedestrian walking along and | 14 | | upon
a highway shall walk only on a shoulder, as far as | 15 | | practicable from the edge of
the roadway.

| 18 | | walking along and upon a highway shall walk as near as | 19 | | practicable to an outside
edge of a roadway, and, if on a | 20 | | two-way roadway, shall walk only on the left side

| 22 | | (d) Except as otherwise provided in this Chapter, any | 23 | | pedestrian upon
a roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all | 24 | | vehicles upon the roadway. |

| 1 | | (e) In municipalities with a population of under 2,000,000 | 2 | | inhabitants, upon highways where the maximum posted speed limit | 3 | | is 45 miles per hour or less, and during the period from | 4 | | sunrise to sunset, a pedestrian who is 18 years of age or older | 5 | | and wearing in-line speed skates may travel upon the roadway as | 6 | | near as practicable to an outside edge of the roadway. | 7 | | Pedestrians wearing in-line speed skates upon a roadway may not | 8 | | impede or obstruct other vehicular traffic. Pedestrians | 9 | | wearing in-line speed skates shall be subject to all other | 10 | | rights and duties under this Article X. Nothing in this Code | 11 | | shall be construed to prevent a pedestrian wearing in-line | 12 | | speed skates from using a lane designated for bicycles.
