HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Joseph V. 
4Jedlovec, Jr. of Warrenville on receiving the Bronze Star Medal 
5with "V" Device; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, He received the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device 
7for his valorous achievement while serving in the Republic of 
8Vietnam with the 3d Platoon, Company D, 1st Battalion, 501st 
9Infantry Regiment, United States Army; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, From May 5 to May 7, 1968, Staff Sergeant Jedlovec 
11exposed himself to continuous enemy fire during an enemy 
12attack, while going to the aid of an injured Squad Leader; he 
13then organized a team to MEDEVAC the injured Squad Leader while 
14moving from position to position and directing the platoon; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Jedlovec kept the unit together and 
16pressed forward, delivering a devastating attack on the enemy 
17forces; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, His actions are in keeping with the finest 
19traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon 
20himself, the 501st Infantry Regiment, and the United States 
21Army; and

1    WHEREAS, He received the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device 
2on February 17, 2011; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate Joseph Jedlovec, Jr. on receiving the Bronze 
6Star Medal with "V" Device and thank him for his service to his 
7country; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Joseph Jedlovec, Jr. as a symbol of our respect 
10and esteem.
