SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2905/2.3 new

Amends the State Fire Marshal Act. Provides that the Office of the State Fire Marshal shall adopt a rule requiring, by January 1, 2012, each business that sells a tank containing liquid or compressed oxygen to an individual for residential oxygen therapy at an address in the State to register that address with the fire department or fire protection district that provides fire protection service for that address. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Fire Marshal Act is amended by adding Section 2.3 as follows:

(20 ILCS 2905/2.3 new)

Sec. 2.3. Registration of oxygen tanks used for residential oxygen therapy; rules. The Office of the State Fire Marshal shall adopt a rule requiring, by January 1, 2012, each business that sells a tank containing liquid or compressed oxygen to an individual for residential oxygen therapy at an address in the State to register that address with the fire department or fire protection district that provides fire protection service for that address.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
