1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3347
2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3347, AS AMENDED,
3 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4 following:

5     "Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by
6 adding Section 22.23c as follows:

7     (415 ILCS 5/22.23c new)
8     Sec. 22.23c. Vehicle wheel weights.
9     (a) In this Section:
10         "New vehicle" has the same meaning as ascribed in
11     Section 1-148.4 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
12         "Vehicle" has the same meaning as ascribed in Section
13     1-217 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
14     (b) On and after January 1, 2012, no person shall use a
15 weight or other product to balance a vehicle wheel or tire if
16 the weight or other product contains mercury or contains more

1 than 0.1 percent lead by weight.
2     (c) On and after January 1, 2012, no person shall sell,
3 offer to sell, distribute, or offer to distribute a weight or
4 other product for balancing a vehicle wheel or tire if the
5 weight or other product contains mercury or contains more than
6 0.1 percent lead by weight.
7     (d) On and after January 1, 2012, no person shall sell a
8 new vehicle equipped with a weight or other product used to
9 balance a vehicle wheel or tire if the weight or other product
10 contains lead or mercury.

11     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12 becoming law.".
