HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Culver Hampton Sr. of Chicago, who passed away on November 5, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Culver Hampton Sr., known as "Red" or "Pops" to all who loved him, was born January 18, 1941; he met and married Norma Lee Linton in 1959, and from this union six children were born; and

WHEREAS, Culver worked at Freund Can Company, where he was scheduled to be promoted as Foreman; and

WHEREAS, He would make sure that the family sat together for dinner at six every day, and how after dinner was movie time at eight; he would not allow them to watch anything that was not educational, except the occasional seasonal specials like "Charlie Brown Christmas" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"; his favorite program during family time was Wild Kingdom; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; and

WHEREAS, Culver Hampton Sr. will be remembered by his children, Phyllis Baker (Charles), Constance Anderson (Brian), Donna Smith (Lanyaird), Culver Hampton, Jr., Marcus Hampton, and Damione Hampton; his sister, Betty Hampton; his brother, Lonnie Hampton; his seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Culver Hampton Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Culver Hampton Sr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
