HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Culver
4 Hampton Sr. of Chicago, who passed away on November 5, 2009;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Culver Hampton Sr., known as "Red" or "Pops" to
7 all who loved him, was born January 18, 1941; he met and
8 married Norma Lee Linton in 1959, and from this union six
9 children were born; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Culver worked at Freund Can Company, where he was
11 scheduled to be promoted as Foreman; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He would make sure that the family sat together
13 for dinner at six every day, and how after dinner was movie
14 time at eight; he would not allow them to watch anything that
15 was not educational, except the occasional seasonal specials
16 like "Charlie Brown Christmas" and "How the Grinch Stole
17 Christmas"; his favorite program during family time was Wild
18 Kingdom; and
 
19     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Culver Hampton Sr. will be remembered by his

1 children, Phyllis Baker (Charles), Constance Anderson (Brian),
2 Donna Smith (Lanyaird), Culver Hampton, Jr., Marcus Hampton,
3 and Damione Hampton; his sister, Betty Hampton; his brother,
4 Lonnie Hampton; his seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces,
5 nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Culver
9 Hampton Sr.; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Culver Hampton Sr. as a symbol of
12 our sincere sympathy.
