1     AN ACT concerning transportation.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 6-205.3 as follows:

6     (625 ILCS 5/6-205.3 new)
7     Sec. 6-205.3. Suspension of driver's license of person
8 convicted of resisting or obstructing a peace officer. The
9 driver's license of a person convicted of resisting or
10 obstructing a peace officer under Section 31-1(a) of the
11 Criminal Code of 1961 involving that person's operation of a
12 motor vehicle shall be suspended by the Secretary for a period
13 not to exceed 6 months for a first offense. Upon a second or
14 subsequent conviction for resisting or obstructing a peace
15 officer involving that person's operation of a motor vehicle,
16 the suspension shall be for a period not to exceed one year.

17     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
18 1, 2010.
