| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened | 3 |
| to learn of the death of William "Bill" Horman of Hardin, who | 4 |
| passed away on January 24, 2008; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman served as a member of the United | 6 |
| States Army's 82nd Airborne Division during World War II and | 7 |
| fought with valor during the Battle of the Bulge; in | 8 |
| recognition of his service, he was entitled to receive the | 9 |
| Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the European Theatre | 10 |
| Campaign Medal with one bronze service star, the Combat | 11 |
| Infantryman Badge first award, the Honorable Service lapel | 12 |
| button World War II, and the Marksman's badge bars for the | 13 |
| rifle and automatic rifle; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman was a well-known barber at Horman's | 15 |
| Barbershop in the Village of Hardin, serving its residents for | 16 |
| 58 years until his retirement in December of 2006; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman served as a trustee for the Village | 18 |
| of Hardin from 1952 until 1974, when he was elected to serve as | 19 |
| Mayor of Hardin; he served with distinction as Mayor of Hardin | 20 |
| from 1974 until his passing; the citizens of Hardin will | 21 |
| remember him fondly for his approachable style of governance, | 22 |
| with village business discussed between haircuts at his |

| barbershop, which doubled as the mayor's office; and
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman was preceded in death by his | 3 |
| beloved wife of 57 years, Daisy; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman is survived by his son, James W. | 5 |
| Horman; his daughters, JoAnn Rose and Betty Meyer; his sister, | 6 |
| Ruth Bowles; and his 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; | 7 |
| and | 8 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman will be remembered by all who knew | 9 |
| and loved him as an honest and kindhearted person who was there | 10 |
| for anyone who needed his help, and as an outstanding leader | 11 |
| who always put in the extra effort for his community; | 12 |
| therefore, be it
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 14 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 15 |
| his family and friends, the passing of William "Bill" Horman; | 16 |
| and be it further
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 |
| presented to the family of William "Bill" Horman as an | 19 |
| expression of our sympathy.
