1     AN ACT concerning public aid.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5 adding Section 5-5.05 as follows:

6     (305 ILCS 5/5-5.05 new)
7     Sec. 5-5.05. Hospitals; psychiatric services. On and after
8 July 1, 2008, the minimum inpatient per diem rate to be paid to
9 a hospital for psychiatric services shall be no less than the
10 highest per diem base rate established by the Department of
11 Healthcare and Family Services for any hospital that newly
12 qualifies to deliver psychiatric inpatient services on or after
13 December 31, 2006.

14     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
15 becoming law.
