| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the | 3 |
| State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Samuel T. | 4 |
| Macrane Jr.; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Samuel T. Macrane Jr. served the Naperville | 6 |
| community with dedication for many years; during the four years | 7 |
| he was Mayor of Naperville, the city's population increased | 8 |
| from 88,000 to 100,423; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, During his term as mayor, Mr. Macrane continued to | 10 |
| build on the city's reputation as a residential and business | 11 |
| center, helping to shape Naperville into a prosperous and | 12 |
| attractive city; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, As mayor, he worked to improve public safety by | 14 |
| increasing police awareness and by supporting new programs such | 15 |
| as V.E.G.A., D.A.R.E., and G.R.E.A.T., and through his support | 16 |
| of three new fire stations; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, He worked hard to ensure the city's fiscal | 18 |
| integrity during a time of growth; he managed the city's growth | 19 |
| through adoption and updating of the Department of Public | 20 |
| Utilities by supporting lake water service and electric | 21 |
| services that will grow with the city for another ten years; | 22 |
| and
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, His commitment to community service included | 24 |
| serving as mayor, as city councilman, as the Local Liquor | 25 |
| Commissioner, as a member of the Riverwalk Commission, as | 26 |
| Chairman of the Naper Settlement and Museum Board, as a member | 27 |
| of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference Legislative | 28 |
| Committee, as a member of the Fireman's Pension Board, as a | 29 |
| member of the CAN-DO Board of Directors, as a member of the | 30 |
| Rotary Club of Naperville, and as a member of the Edward |

| Hospital Cancer Board; and
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Macrane was a native of Philadelphia, | 3 |
| Pennsylvania; he and his wife, Marie, were married for 40 years | 4 |
| and were residents of Naperville for more than 34 years; he was | 5 |
| the proud father of 4 children; therefore, be it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 7 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 8 |
| we mourn the passing of Samuel T. Macrane Jr.; we extend our | 9 |
| deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and | 10 |
| loved him; and we express our appreciation for his many years | 11 |
| of dedicated community service; and be it further
| 12 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest | 14 |
| condolences during their time of bereavement.
