SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

65 ILCS 5/10-1-15.1 new

Amends the Municipal Code. Provides that any son or daughter of a firefighter, paramedic, or police officer killed in the line of duty who passes all requirements for the position is guaranteed to be hired from his or her current eligibility list. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding Section 10-1-15.1 as follows:

(65 ILCS 5/10-1-15.1 new)

Sec. 10-1-15.1. Police officers, firefighters, and paramedics; children of employees killed in the line of duty. Any son or daughter of a firefighter, paramedic, or police officer killed in the line of duty who passes all requirements for the position is guaranteed to be hired from his or her current eligibility list.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
