1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the
3 Ninety-Third General Assembly of the State of Illinois were
4 saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy Ruth Davis Curry
5 on July 15, 2003; and
6 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry was a highly-educated woman, having
7 attended college at Morris Brown in Atlanta, Georgia, having
8 earned a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics from Fort Valley
9 State in Fort Valley, Georgia, and a degree in Higher
10 Education/Administration from St. Xavier University in
11 Chicago; and
12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry was married to Lacey Kirk Curry on
13 September 28, 1952 at Wolf Creek Line Baptist Church, and was
14 the mother of four children, Lacey Kirk Seneca, Donald Eugene
15 "D.C.", Theresa Lynne, and Augustus Tobe Curry; and
16 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry was a housewife for fifty-one years,
17 while still maintaining an educational career at elementary
18 schools in Georgia, Colorado, Utah, and Illinois, and high
19 schools in California; in addition, she was Director of
20 Emmanuel Christian School in Chicago; and
21 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry's hobbies included sewing, cooking,
22 flowers, gardening, and traveling; her aspirations were the
23 glory of God, the well being of her husband, family and
24 friends, the education of children, the hopes and dreams of
25 young married couples, and the care of the aged, which
26 prompted her to organize the "Golden Agers" of her church;
27 and
28 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry's passing will be deeply felt by many
29 especially her husband, the Reverend L.K. Curry; her four
30 children and their spouses, Lacy Seneca, Donald Eugene and
31 Veronica, Theresa Curry and Rev. Kenneth Battle, and Augustus

1 Tobe and Tonya; her nine grandchildren, Seneca Charles,
2 Julius Clark, Brittany Ryan, Jillian Anice, Henry Louis, John
3 Lacy, and Delane Monique; her brothers Ralph (Jessie) Davis,
4 Rudolph (Annette) Davis, and David Davis; and her many nieces
5 and nephews; therefore be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
8 Dorothy Ruth Davis Curry; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Dorothy Ruth Davis Curry as an
11 expression of our sorrow for their loss.
