 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 196

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 196  by  replacing
 3    lines 28 through 31 on page 1 and lines 1 through 5 on page 2
 4    with the following:
 5        "Notwithstanding  any other provision of this Section, in
 6    counties with a population greater  than  3,000,000,  a  park
 7    district  board  is  authorized  to increase taxes under this
 8    Section for corporate purposes for any one year  so  long  as
 9    the increase is offset by a like tax rate reduction in one or
10    more  funds.  In  no  instance  shall the increase exceed the
11    extension limitation to which any park  district  is  subject
12    under Section 18-195 of the Property Tax Code.".
