 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago has a long  and
 3    rich  history  in  the  State of Illinois, dating back to its
 4    founding in 1858; and

 5        WHEREAS, The YMCA has taught tens of thousands  of  youth
 6    in  Illinois to swim over the past 146 years, thus preventing
 7    numerous water accidents and deaths; and

 8        WHEREAS,  The  Foglia  YMCA,  as  part  of  the  YMCA  of
 9    Metropolitan Chicago and heir to a rich  history  of  meeting
10    community  needs,  was  first opened in May 2000 to serve the
11    growing needs of the people  of  the  Lake  Zurich  area  and
12    southwest Lake County; and

13        WHEREAS, Since the very inception of the Foglia YMCA, the
14    need  for  a  year-round  aquatic  center was recognized as a
15    significant need in the community; and

16        WHEREAS,  Through  the  support   of   generous   private
17    donations  along  with  the  support  of  the Village of Lake
18    Zurich and significant volunteer efforts, the Foglia YMCA was
19    able to raise the $7.0 million necessary to build the  31,000
20    square  foot addition which includes the state-of the-art von
21    Heimburg Aquatic Center; and

22        WHEREAS, The Foglia YMCA is grateful to God that the YMCA
23    will be able to expand  its  service  to  the  community  and
24    continue  in  a  significant  aquatic  heritage  through  the
25    dedication  of  the  beautiful von Heimburg Aquatic Center on
26    Friday, January 16, 2004; and

27        WHEREAS, The State of Illinois benefits greatly from  the
28    community service of the Foglia YMCA; therefore, be it

29        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
30    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that

 1    we  congratulate  the board, members, and staff of the Foglia
 2    YMCA in Lake Zurich on the occasion of the dedication of  the
 3    beautiful von Heimburg Aquatic Center on January 16, 2004; we
 4    further  commend  them for their dedication to public service
 5    and wish them all the best in the coming  years;  and  be  it
 6    further

 7        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 8    presented to the Foglia YMCA in Lake Zurich as an  expression
 9    of our esteem.
