1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of
3 the State of Illinois wish to formally recognize those
4 citizens who have valiantly struggled to overcome cancer and
5 those who raise private funds for research for a cure; and
6 WHEREAS, Those who have overcome cancer should be honored
7 for their strength through the struggle; and
8 WHEREAS, Betty Anderson was diagnosed with breast cancer
9 in November of 2002; she overcame the disease and her family
10 has taken up the cause; and
11 WHEREAS, Betty's daughter, Tamra Anderson, is
12 participating in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in Chicago on
13 June 7 and 8, 2003; she is walking to raise funds for the
14 Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade and support its mission
15 of providing access to care and finding a cure; much of the
16 money granted by the Foundation goes back to the communities
17 where it was raised, supporting everything from local
18 grassroots programs to national organizations; and
19 WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of the State of
20 Illinois that we recognize and honor Betty and Tamra
21 Anderson, so that others may emulate their strength and
22 dedication to themselves and to others; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we honor Betty Anderson and Tamra Anderson for such strength
26 and dedication; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That we ask all citizens of Illinois to join in
28 the fight to find a cure for cancer; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
30 presented to Betty Anderson and Tamra Anderson as a token of

1 our respect and esteem and with the sincere hope for success
2 in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk and a quick end to all cancer
3 through prevention and cure.
