 1        AN ACT concerning ethics.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Attorney General Act is amended by adding
 5    Section 4f as follows:

 6        (15 ILCS 205/4f new)
 7        Sec 4f.  Public corruption hotline.
 8        (a)  The Attorney General, as soon as may  be  practical,
 9    must  establish  and  maintain  a public corruption telephone
10    hotline and a web site through which public corruption may be
11    reported.  Reporters are entitled to strict  confidentiality,
12    and  the  Attorney  General must not disclose the identity of
13    reporters unless compelled to do so by  a  court  because  of
14    exigent circumstances.
15        (b)  Reports  of  public  corruption  must be screened by
16    Assistant Attorneys General and in appropriate cases referred
17    for investigation and possible prosecution to the responsible
18    law enforcement and prosecutorial authorities.

19        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
20    becoming law.
