 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2352

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill  2352  on  page  1,
 3    immediately below line 11, by inserting the following:

 4        "WHEREAS,  A  credible,  reliable,  and  valid assessment
 5    system  should  allow  school  districts  to   reduce   local
 6    assessments;  once  the  State  assessment  system  is  fully
 7    implemented  in  the  2005-2006 school year, school districts
 8    are encouraged and expected to reduce the  local  assessments
 9    of students in the grades and subjects assessed by the State;
10    and"; and

11    on page 2, line 30, by replacing "40" with "38".
