 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2231

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 2231 on page 2,  by
 3    replacing lines 10 through 12 with the following:
 4        "(d)  Nothing in this Act shall be deemed to apply to the
 5    practice   of  hair  braiding.   For  the  purposes  of  this
 6    subsection (d), any one or any combination of  the  following
 7    processes  constitute  the  practice  of  hair  braiding: the
 8    process of interweaving an  individual's  natural  hair;  the
 9    process  of  interweaving  together synthetic hair with human
10    hair by hand; or similar work upon the hair  of  any  person,
11    which   does   not   otherwise  constitute  the  practice  of
12    cosmetology as defined in Section 3-1 of this Act."; and

13    on page 2, in line 21, by changing ", (not braiding)," to  ",
14    braiding,".
