 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1414

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 1414  by  replacing
 3    everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 4        "(770 ILCS 60/1.2 new)
 5        Sec.   1.2.  Rental  equipment  liens.   In  addition  to
 6    persons who would otherwise have a lien under this  Act,  any
 7    person,  whether  contractor  or  subcontractor,  who  leases
 8    equipment  to  another for use in the process of constructing
 9    an improvement to real estate, has  a  lien  for  the  rental
10    value  of  the  equipment  to the same extent and in the same
11    manner as provided in this Act for other liens.  This Section
12    shall apply only if, and to the extent that, the equipment is
13    used on or about the site of the improvement or  is  used  to
14    haul  materials  to  or from the site.  This Section does not
15    apply if the improvement is either a single family  residence
16    or  a  multi-family  residence  of  fewer  than 12 units in a
17    single building.

18        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
19    becoming law.".
