 1                     AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 539

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 539 on page  5,  by
 3    replacing lines 9 through 18 with the following:

 4             "(i)  Valuable    formulae,    computer   geographic
 5        systems, designs, drawings and research data obtained  or
 6        produced   by  any  public  body  when  disclosure  could
 7        reasonably be expected to produce private gain or  public
 8        loss.  The  exemption  for  "computer geographic systems"
 9        provided  in  this  paragraph  (i)  does  not  extend  to
10        requests made by news media as defined in  Section  2  of
11        this  Act when the requested information is not otherwise
12        exempt and the only purpose of the request is  to  access
13        and disseminate information regarding the health, safety,
14        welfare, or legal rights of the general public.".
