HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor the life and service of United States Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CWO) Kevin M. Weiss of McHenry, who recently passed away during a training mission; and

WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss, affectionately called Mose by those close to him, was raised in McHenry and took to helping others at a young age; and

WHEREAS, While a teenager working at a concession stand, CWO Kevin Weiss witnessed a fishing boat capsize in waters that were made dangerously fast by spring rains; not worried for his own safety, he got in his own boat and rescued the 4 fisherman; and

WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss' dedication to serving others led him to enlist in the United States Army in 2003, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before being selected to attend the Warrant Officer Candidate School in 2011; he went on to become an AH-64D Apache pilot with the 101st Airborne Division; and

WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss was deployed in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom and received numerous medals and commendations during his military service, including the Air Medal, 3 Army Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, 2 Army Achievement Medals, the Combat Action Badge, the Army Aviator Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the Ranger Tab, and numerous other campaign and service awards; and

WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss is survived by his loving wife, Beth, and their 2 young children, Lucas and Susan; and

WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss will be remembered by his many friends and family members as a kind and dedicated soul whose love for helping others and serving his nation will be truly missed; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the life and service of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kevin M. Weiss, whose dedication to his community, his nation, and to public service will never be forgotten; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to CWO Kevin Weiss' family as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
