SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leo E. Bernhard of Elwood, who passed away on November 22, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Leo Bernhard lived his entire life in Elwood; he attended Joliet Catholic Academy and graduated with the Class of 1943; and

WHEREAS, Leo Bernhard was a respected and admired farmer who enjoyed putting in a hard day's work with his sons; and

WHEREAS, Leo Bernhard was a long-time member of St. Joseph Parish in Manhattan; and

WHEREAS, Leo Bernhard was preceded in death by his parents, Leo C. and Agnes (nee Larkin) Bernhard, and a son-in-law, Mike Cabay; and

WHEREAS, Leo Bernhard is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Lois (nee Miller); 12 children, Linda (John) Findlay, Dr. Mark (Joanne) Bernhard, Greg (Colleen) Bernhard, Bill (Mary) Bernhard, Gary (Lisa) Bernhard, Guy (Lynette) Bernhard, Joan (Brian) Long, Joy (Ray) Garza, Jean (Adam) Smith, Brian (Tammy) Bernhard, Doug (Kathy) Bernhard, and Carl (Joanne) Bernhard; a brother, Don (Phyllis) Bernhard; a sister, Mary Agnes (Don) McLaughlin; 57 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Leo E. Bernhard; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leo Bernhard as an expression of our sympathy.
